Syrah Miramar 2012: Best Syrah from South America

Our icon wine Syrah Miramar was awarded Best Syrah from South America by Decanter.com, giving it 96 out of 100 points!

This Syrah is probably the best expression of our terroir. This is a Syrah from a truly cold climate. Due to the low temperatures and the coastal fog, the Lo Abarca Syrah has difficulty maturing, resulting in a wine with low alcohol content and high acidity. For Syrah lovers, this is probably a somewhat unexpected version. As the famous Jancis Robinson has mentioned “I would not like to come across this wine in a blind tasting, since I would never guess its origin.  I would place it more towards the northern Rhône region”.

There are very few Syrah that dare to go so far in their acidity and towards the herbaceous side of the variety. This is the perfect reflection of the Lo Abarca terroir. The nose is floral and shows red fruits and spices such as white and black pepper. On the palate it is delicate, elegant and with a firm acidity, full of red fruits. This Chilean Syrah is a must try!
